The
Hitchhiker's Guide (to the Galaxy) trilogy, sometimes called
HHGG, was written by the late Douglas Adams. It consists of five books.
The first book in the HHGG series was The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and the name of the Gatehopper's Guide to Proelium was an intentional reference/homage to the series. The 'Guide' in the books is an electronic encyclopedia, which has the words DON'T PANIC printed on its cover in large, friendly letters.
The Hitchhiker's Guide books:
- The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
- The Restaurant at the End of the Universe
- Life, The Universe and Everything
- So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish
- Mostly Harmless
All are recommended, though the first three generally seem to be regarded as the best.
HHGG is not the same as [h2g2], an online community and collaborative encyclopedia based on the Hitchhiker's Guide. h2g2 was Douglas Adams's idea.
- I'd prefer it if this page was named "HHGttG", as that's what I've always heard it aclled, rather than HHGG. (About the same as calling OotP just OP, if you ask me...) --C
- I have always seen Hitchhiker's abbreviated as HHGG, never with the little t's in it. --Ree
- ...and I've never seen it without the little t's. :) --C
