Dragon

Dragons are reptiles, often large ones, generally scaly, usually with at least one pair of limbs. "Dragon" is often a byword for "the biggest, scariest, toughest animal around".

They are sometimes dumb brutes, sometimes sapient, occasionally portrayed as mentally superior to humanoids by an order of magnitude.

Dragons are often associated with magic and specifically the ability to exhale fire (either magical or naturally chemically-produced).
